The Barça Academy Cup APAC 2020 has come to an end on the grounds of the Barça Academy Delhi NCR at the Heritage School, Gurgaon and was a huge success in terms of organisation. The tournament, played in four categories (U9, U11, U13 and U15), ended with the trophies shared between four different Barça Academies: Barcelona, Istanbul, Katsushika and Delhi.

The second edition was reserved to the FC Barcelona soccer schools in the Asia pacific zone, and also included the first edition of the Barça Academy Cup India, exclusively for the schools in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

The players from Barça Escola Barcelona clearly dominated the youngest age group, U9, where they recovered from opening defeat to Barça Academy Nara in the group stage to clearly beat the Japanese side in the final. In U11, victory went to Barça Academy Istanbul Beko, who won a highly competitive final 1-0 against Barça Escola Barcelona.

Barça Academy Katsushika beat their compatriots from Barça Academy Nara to win the U13 final, while in the oldest age group, U15, the title was won by the hosts from Barça Academy Delhi, with a win against the combined team from Barça Academy Sydney and Brisbane.

The two competitions brought together 700 athletes, who since last Thursday 30 January had been enjoying some splendid days of sport, culture and friendship. Among the different trips, the players went to one of the seven wonders of the modern world, the Taj Mahal, last Wednesday 29.

More than 50 permanent Barça Academy projects in the five continents

Barça Academies are FC Barcelona's own football schools for boys and girls, and which focus on the comprehensive education of its pupils. The model has been exported internationally, the idea being to expand the Barça brand and teach the rest of the world about the club’s philosophy and values.

The schools work with their own, unique system based on the same methodology that Barça uses from its youngest academy teams through to the senior team, encouraging a creative and attack-minded style of play indispensably combined with the teaching of values: respect, humility, effort, ambition and teamwork, with proven success.

FC Barcelona currently has over 50 Barça Academy projects around the world, plus more than 180 camps and 50 clinics, in 56 countries on all five continents, involving more than 45,000 children in the different activities that they run.

The Barça Academy projects are divided into Barça Escola Barcelona, the Barça Academy Pro in Haikou (China) and New York (USA), Barça Residency Academy Arizona (USA) and the Barça Academies in all five continents.
